Solutions for Ammonia Control in Aquaculture Ponds

spac

When controlling ammonia, it is important to acquire some understanding of the complex interrelationships of factors in a culture pond such as how good feed management can keep waste generation to a manageable minimum, how algae blooms and die-offs can significantly alter delicate balances of ammonia, pH and oxygen, or how a well-managed aeration can help to offset high levels of ammonia in a pond.

Assuming all factors to be under control, GLB recommends the following products for maintaining water quality and in the process, control ammonia levels as well:

  • A weekly application of PT100W enzyme at the rate of 1L, based on a total daily feed consumption of 80 kilos for fish, or 60 kilos for shrimp. On the day of application, check the latest daily feed consumption and calculate accordingly. Follow instructions on dilution as written on the product.
  • A weekly application of BE500 Probiotic of 1 kilo based on total daily feed consumption as above.
  • Enrichments of CE100 and TR200S as required.

A daily regimen of DO measurement especially at dawn and dusk, and to keep a schedule of aeration for optimum DO levels. Remember: it is more cost-effective to maintain constant aeration even at minimum, compared to a start-stop aeration procedure

ez Aquaculture BE500 Bacteria & Enzyme

BE500 is a unified blend of bacteria and enzymes known for their outstanding benefits in fish and shrimp culture; formulated with up to seven fast growing species plus three antivibrio species blended with a value added carrier. This product also controls ammonia and reduce suspended solids, sludge build-up and pond organic loading.

Available in 18kg Pail

ez Aquaculture CE100 Carbon Enrichment

CE100 Carbon Enrichment is specifically designed for addition to a carbon source, such as cornstarch. It lowers feed costs and improves survival rates by increasing the bioavailability of feed. It’s a select blend of enzymes and trace minerals that break down carbon, making it more easily consumed by microbes, thus counteracting the inhibiting effects of ammonia, proteins, and lipids left from waste and uneaten feed.

Available in 18kg Pail, 22.73 kg Bag, 1MT

ez Aquaculture TR200S Topsoil Replacement

TR2S Topsoil Replacement is a precisely formulated supplement for compost that promotes and sustains optimal fertility in pond bottoms. Its enzymatic action breaks down organic matter into smaller constituents that nourish algae and other microbes. This ensures a vibrant supply of food and nutrients—both in the water and the substrate—upon which fish livestock thrive.

Available in 20 Liter Pail, 32x20 L Pails, 60 Liter Drum, 7x60L Drums, 200 Liter Drum
